I hear the echo - Elaine Grech

I hear the echo

Sheltered by the willow tree

And held by the blue sky...

I kneel in front of the monument of the fallen...

I release purple tears,

my feet rooted in the soil

that was once your home...

A home drenched in sweat and blood...

I hear the echo of our ancestors

from Stonehenge to Haġar Qim,

carried by the four winds…

attuning to the tribal dance.

The river flows carrying...releasing…

May the compassion in our hearts flow...

I pray...it unlocks...

I pray for the love that forges rivers in barren lands...

I kneel in front of the fathers and mothers

who have perished in the tunnel of hardship.

I bow in front of you, mothers and fathers

Who dared to dream and step forward...

The sun will not set on you

Never will you be forgotten...

Your legacy runs in my blood.

With feathers in our hair, we bless the earth that God gifted us.

We envisage our future

led by the Light that guides our way forward.
